Planning Permission for Denaby Police Houses

Planning permission has been granted by the Minister of Housing for two police houses at Denaby Main.

The project was the subject of an enquiry following objections raised by Conisbrough Urban Council.

The announcement from the Ministry states:

“I am directed by the Minister of Housing and Local Government to stay at yes considered the report of his Inspector, Mr M Adamson, S.R.I.C.S., m.g.p.i., following the local enquire into your application, direct to police houses between Tickhill Street and Rossington Street, Denaby Main.

Although the site is shown allocated for residential development on the tarmac for Conisbrough, the proposal was referred to the Minister because of objections raised by the Conisbrough Urban Council.

“In a report, the Inspector expressed the view that in dealing with the application consideration should be given to the relationship of the proposed houses to the size of the site and the existing nearby buildings as well as to the question of increased density.

He found the density of the proposed development as a unit to be lower than was required in many present-day housing estates, and consider the proposal by no means unsatisfactory on these grounds.

In his opinion, the profession of the occupants of houses in a residential area was not matter which should be taken into consideration in a planning application.
