Pony Driver’s Death.

The Sheffield Coroner held an inquest on Tuesday, on Bernard Charles Thompson (16) a pony driver. 9, Castle Street, Conisborough, who died in Sheffield Infirmary on 14th January. from shock following internal haemorrhage.

According to the evidence, the lad worked at Cadeby Main Pit, and about a month ago was making his way to the cage after working a shift, when he slipped and fell on to the hydraulics.

He did not complain of being hurt to a youth who was with him, got himself up and waited his turn for the next “draw.”

Later he was removed to Denaby Hospital, and eventually to Sheffield Infirmary.

A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned.
