Pony Drivers Fighting

Percy Streets and J. Vaughan, pony drivers, were summoned for fighting in the Denaby mine.

Mr. Allen described fighting in a pit as a grave disorder, which could not be tolerated, because it might result in endangering the safety of the persons in the mine.

Streets started the fight, and Vaughan, more or less in self-defence, used his safety lamp to hit Streets with. To use a safety lamp as a means of aggression was a grave action which might break the glass in the lamp and result in the firing of the mine.

Both defendants pleaded guilty, and were fined 10s. each inclusive.
