Postal facilities.

After Conisbrough Urban Council general purposes committee had been asked by the post office telephone’s department if the council had any objection to a stamp letterbox being sited on a telegraph pole in Chestnut Grove, Conisbrough, to meet the need previously represented, it was decided that the council press for a pillar box in preference to the type proposed.

The committee also received a letter from the head postmaster at Doncaster with further reference to sub post office facilities on the Conanby and Ellershaw estates which the council had wished to be the subject of a subcommittee meeting with him.

The letter stated that the question of extending the existing accommodation at the Conanby sub post office had again represented to the N. C. B., As owners of the property, and that the council would be informed if the board accepted an invitation to draw up estimates in hand.

A recommendation that while the council welcomed any improvement in the facilities they reiterated their request a subcommittee meeting to examine the whole question of postal facilities on both the Conanby and Ellershaw estate was approved by the council on Monday.
