Prison for Bigamy
Denaby Soldier Committed
At Leeds Assizes yesterday (Thursday), Dvr. Douglas Davis (28), 44th M.T. Reserve, R.A.S.C., of 9, Tickhill Street, Denaby, was committed to prison for 15 months with hard labour.
On February 20th he was arrested in Swinton as an Army absentee and during the time he was in custody, Davis made a statement admitting that, at St. Anne’s Cathedral, Leeds, on February 2nd, 1943, he had bigamously married Annie Kate Maloney (28), of 95, Tunbridge Street, Leeds 2.
He was committed for trial at Leeds City Court on Wednesday and the case was dealt with at the Assizes yesterday.
His wife, Mrs. Annie Davis, resides with her parents at 9 Tickhill Street, Denaby.
