Promising Young Cricketer

16 years old Norman Oakley, 44 Bolton St, Denaby, has a double distinction of being the youngest  member of Denaby and Cadeby second X1 and the batsman with the highest average to date.

With a fine cricketing record behind him Norman seems well on the way to realising his ambition to win his Yorkshire Cap.

At the age of 14, he captained Conisbrough Modern School XI, and Don and Dearne District XI and won his Yorkshire County Schoolboy’s Cap.

A reliable wicket-keeper, he takes turns with Albert Hurst the regular Denaby wicket keeper.

Although cricket is his first love, Norman is also a keen soccer player. Towards the end of last season he was selected to play for Mexborough F A. against a Doncaster Senior League side at Denaby.
