Mr G Cowburn who for some time has been agent – manager of the Cadeby Colliery, has now been appointed as agent at the Cadeby Colliery with Mr W Mitchell as manager.

Mr Cowburn came to Cadeby colliery in February 1937, as manager, about two years ago was made agent manager.

Mr Mitchell came to Cadeby colliery in December 1937 as under manager in the Parkgate seam and since Mr Halford went to be manager at Denaby a few months ago Mr Mitchell has been supervising in both the Barnsley and Parkgate seams.

He has spent all his working life since he was 14 in the mine, with the exception of a break in the last war when he was serving in the army.

He was for two and half years manager Wharncliffe more choleric of the 11 months prior to coming to Cadeby was under manager in the Parkgate seam at Grimethorpe Colliery.

Since coming to Cadeby has taken a keen interest in the ambulance movement, and is an officer in the Denaby Division of the St John ambulance Brigade.

He is  succeeded as under manager in the Parkgate seam by Mr J Hall, who has been at Cadeby for a short time as Overman.
