Property Sale

An interesting block of property was auctioned at the Star hotel, on Tuesday when, to close a trust, the freehold residents and 1 3/4 acres of grounds comprising The Poplars, Elm Green Lane, was offered for sale by Messrs. Staniland and Co Doncaster.

The property, at one time the residents of Dr and Mrs Forster, and during the war years occupied by evacuees, has a frontage to Elm Green Lane 360 feet, and adjacent to the house is a four roomed cottage let at 7s. 6d. a week, inclusive of rates.

The property was purchased for £700 by Mr Humphries, greengrocer, Church Street, Conisbrough.

A layout plan for the development of the site as a building estate was approved by the Urban Council in 1939.
