Snowbound Van Rifled At Conisboro’

A raid on a Doncaster Co-operative Society van stranded in a snowdrift in Old Road, Conisboro’, during the severe storm on Feb.  24th, was described at Doncaster on Tuesday, when John Taylor  (19)miner, George Embleton (19), apprentice titter, Ronald L. Bingham (23) miner, Reginald J. Harris (21), miner, and Herbert Cuttell (20), miner, all of Denaby, were charged with stealing articles valued £5 3s. 6d. from the van. If

Inspector Redfern said the van ran into a snowdrift, and Leonard G. Jubb, the driver, left it over the week-end. There were four other vehicles stranded in that district. The van was laden with shovels, dishes, brushes, polishes, and other domestic articles. When the van was dug out of the drift on Monday, Feb. 27th, it was found that some articles had been stolen. Inquiries were made by the police and the five defendants were found.

Defendants admitted the thefts and stated that they took place on three occasions. If
