Junction Inn Grounds, Wombwell.
This enclosure was well attended on Saturday to witness the concluding heats of a 120 yards handicap which was commenced last week. The sixteen winners of the flrst day were classed in four heats all of which were well contested.
The winners of the preliminary heats were as under:
J. Rowe, Jingle Bridge, 28 ½ yards start; John William Rowe, Wombwell, 28 ½ ; E. Hewlett, Mexbro’. 26; and George Liversedge, Denaby, 28.
Betting the final ruled at evens John Wm. Rowe, 10 to 8 agst Liversedge, and 5 to 1 against others.
All the runners got a fair start, and all the competitors being on nearly equal terms, a good race ensued, which was won Liversedge by a yard. J. W. Rowe was aecond, Hewlett third, and Rowe fourth. Half a yard divided second and third, and foot third and fourth.
