Rating Assessment
At the Doncaster Board of Guardians, the Clerk reported the result of the appeal in the Denaby Main Colliery rating case, which has excited great interest amongst coalowners of the country.
The Assessment Committees’s figures are reduced by £12,000, and the collieries of the district are henceforth to be valued on the profits earned.
The Guardians must pay the colliery’s costs—nearly £3,000 —as well their own, the total sum being over £5,000.
