Retirement – Started at Age of 10 !

Mr. R, J. Whitlam retired from the position of caretaker at the agent-manager’s offices at Denaby Colliery last week-end.

Mr. Whitlam commenced work under the Denaby and Cadeby Colliery Company at the age of 10, and he has completed 56 years service. He has been care taker at the offices since 1919.

He will be remembered for his work in connection with local dances where he was often engaged as M.C. Mr. and Mrs. Whitlam are going to reside in Mexborough.

Their son, Jarret Whitlam, is a prisoner of war in Germany.
