River Gives Up Its Prey.
The mystery surrounding the strange and sudden disappearance of Florence Maud Parry (13), daughter of Samuel Parry, miner, of 19, Blythe street, New Conisboro’, which took place as far back as March 8th, was solved in a tragic manner on Wednesday morning, by the finding of the girl’s body in the River Don, near to the vicinity of Rainbow Bridge.
It was just noticed by a boatman on the river, his eye catching sight of what appeared to be the body of a female floating some little distance beneath the surface of the water. Closer investigation proved such was the case, and he notified a passing pedestrian on the river bank—a quarryman of Warmsworth, James Barker by name. The latter informed the police, and assisted them to recover the body from the river, afterwards conveying it to deceased’s home.
The family of deceased are naturally much upset by the tragic nature of the girl’s end, and the father says, as far as he knows, there was nothing preying on the girl’s mind, and that she left home in her usual spirits, save that she had been suffering from neuralgia.
An inquest will be held.
