Rockingham beat Denaby.

A Bamford and R Goring opened the bowling for Rockingham in the Yorkshire Council match against Denaby and Cadeby on Saturday, and both had quick wickets, but Oakley (66) and Dodds (29) put on 82 runs before been parted, when Goring clean bowled Dodds.

Hitchmough was brought on and had Oakley brilliantly caught by Archie Wootton and Goring had two further wickets. Denaby declared at 162 for six, Goring having taken four for 62.

Hallam (31) and Backhouse (10) were just settling down for Rockingham when Colindridge caught the latter off Lawley. D Cooke stayed 28 min for 14 runs, and once again A Wootton came into score a very useful 31.

Ken Hopkinson was the man of the match with 50 not out, which included eight boundaries in Rockingham’s reply of 166 for six.
