Mr W Watson, the popular headmaster of the Rossington Street Schools, on Saturday evening at the Doncaster Parish Church is to be licensed by the Bishop of Sheffield as a diocesan reader.

Mr Watson has been a lay reader for 15 years, holding the Bishop special licence, and the honour to be conferred on Saturday will be appreciated by all is fellow readers in the diocese.

He has done good work, and his services have been in great demand. When the lay readers study circle was formed two years ago he was appointed leader for Doncaster and this, and he has greatly assisted the members. He has on several occasions given papers on subjects of interest to the quarterly gatherings of the readers of the diocese.

The licensing coincides with Mr Watson’s 21 years service as headmaster of the boys school at Denaby Main.
