Round About Conisboro’ – Fire Brigade

The Conisborough Fire Brigade is being strengthened by a sergeant and four firemen, who will be stationed at the Denaby end of the Urban area. Mr. R. J. Clarkson is to retain the position of captain. Each member will be paid a small retaining fee, and also receive payment for attendances at practices. The usual fees, when present at fires, will also be paid.

The new members are to be provided with uniform and boots. Additional equipment is to be acquired in order to increase the efficiency of the Brigade as a fire-fighting organisation.

A request has been addressed to the local Colliery Company to fix a couple of sirens for use as fire alarms. If the Colliery Company agree there will be in future a signal in case of fire which will be heard by all the firemen.

The question of transport is to receive further consideration.
