Rowdy on Bus
Mexborough and Denaby Youth fined

Shouting and singing, five youths boarded a bus in Frederick Street, Rotherham. They all went upstairs, still shouting and singing. The conductress tried to quiet them and two miners, on the bottom deck, complained of the noise.

The conductress stopped the bus and fetched the driver who was told by the youths. “We will stop it.” As soon as a driver was back in the seat, however, one of the youths rang the bell and the noise began all over again.

This was described by Chief Superintendent J. L. Dunn at Rotherham West Riding Court on Monday when two of the youths, Alfred Churms (17), haulage hand, 15, Sycamore Road, Mexborough, and Keith Spooner (19), miner, 20, Annerley Street, Denaby, were each fined £1 and ordered to pay £3 7s 6d. Costs for disorderly conduct on a public service vehicle.
