First Denaby War Victim?

Mr. and Mrs. A. Hooley. of 60, Annerley Street, Denaby, have been officially informed that it is presumed that it son, Able Seaman Alfred Hooley, died in action about April 10th this year.

A.B. Hooley, it will be recalled, was serving in H.M.S. Hunter in the action off Narvik, Norway, and from that time no news has been received by his parents, who had hoped that they would eventually hear that if he had not been fortunate enough to be picked up by some other ship, they would learn of his safety from some other source.

A/B. Hooley was perhaps the first fatal casualty in Denaby Main. because his death is reported as from April 10th, whereas the other two already reported were Bombardier W. H. Butcher in May and Gunner H. Till in June.

He was 20 and had been in the Navy for about three years.
