Sale of freehold property

On Thursday evening week, a sale of freehold property took place at the Star Inn.

The first lot offered was a dwelling house with garden, dovecote etc situate in Well gate, occupied by Mr Henry Senior

Only a small number  was present, consisting of Mr Hartley, from the firm of Messrs Badgers, Rhodes and Co, solicitor to the vendors; Mr Styring, auctioneer; and Messes C. Searle, C Kilner, Needham, J Wigfall, E Greaves, E Oxley, T Oxley, W.E.Wigfall, G.Barker and others.

A lot. One was started at £200 but quickly advanced to £400 pounds which price it was knocked down to Mr J Wigfall, the owner of the adjoining property.

Lot 2 began at £80 and advanced to £125, Mr George Barker being the purchase.
