Deeds not Words

Enthusiastic recruit to the savings movement is councillor Don Hollins, East Ward representative on the Urban Council.

He is setting the pace in securing volunteers are Street group secretaries in the current drive in Conisbrough and Denaby to push up the urban district rate of small savings.

Already he has obtain three new group secretaries, upon which performance he was thanked on Wednesday on behalf of Conisbrough Savings Committee this by the acting secretary, Mr T C Campbell, and at a Conisbrough savings meeting in the Council Chamber the same evening he brought forth an admirable new suggestion.

” Give me one pound’s worth of savings stamps now and I will guarantee to sell £10 worth before March,” he said.

After the meeting Mr Campbell made arrangements for him to have the £10 worth now!

Coun. Hollins’ view is that saving enthusiast often have the opportunity of making sales in their everyday normal contacts. Given a free Saturday this week, he will be out tomorrow looking for more street group secretaries .
