School Attendance Case from Conisborough

Alfred Moore, glassblower, Conisborough, who did not appear was summoned for not sending his child to school.

Mr George Harrison, attendance officer for the Conisborough School Board, said the children respect of whom the summonses have been issued were Emily, a seven, was in the first standard, and had made eight attendances out of 88 during the last nine weeks; and George Alfred, aged five years, in the infants department who had only made 12 attendances out of 88 during the same time.

He had warned the parents repeatedly, and had served several notices. The parents were utterly careless.

Defendant was fined  5s including costs in each case.
