A Scramble in a Queue for Rabbits

A scramble in a Denaby queue for rabbits led to the appearance Doncaster Police Court, to-day, of James Caine, a barman, on charge assaulting John Shutt.

Katherine Caine was also summoned for using threats to Shutt and there was a cross summons by Mrs Caine for assault by Shutt.

Shutt, a discharged soldier, said he was in queue, trying get tabbit, when Mrs endeavouring to get in front of him, pushed him, used threats, and then fetched her husband, who struck him twice in the mouth, causing three teeth to become loose.

There were several witnesses, and one woman said that in turning round to look the assault she lost her rabbit. (Laughter.)

The Bench dismissed the summons against Mrs Caine and the cross-summons against Shutt, and fined James Caine, who pleaded guilty, 40s, or 14 days.
