Denaby´s Flying Start

Denaby United 2 Rotherham Town Reserves 0

Denaby United got a flying start. Though their opening goal came late, there was little doubt of the issue from the first.

Denaby were much the brisker and smarter, and the form of the Rotherham Town team showed little, if any advance on the Clifton Lane standard of last season.

Certainly Rotherham were not so strong as selected and suffered notably by an unlucky injury to Oscar Bretnall, who was prevented from appearing.

The prospects of the visitors were not improved by their having to open against a strong breeze, to which was added a driving rain, and they did very well to keep Denaby out for so long, though the game was not very old before Damms, the Gainsborough recruit, let them off at point-blank range.
