Three Denaby Players to keep your Eye on.
Denaby United’s team juggling to find a winning combination goes on. Already, in 11 games this season and still without a win, Denaby have tried 23 players and have yet to field an unchanged team for two successive matches.
“I think what we want are a couple of good forwards who will take a lot of the weight of the defence.” The club chairman, Mr Jim Richards told me this week.
“We have a very good inside forward in Brian Holden, and with someone there to give support I think he is going to make some people sit up,” he added.
Holden, a local player, made his debut at long Eaton and scored a hat-trick.
Played alongside him on Saturday week, and making his debut this season, although he played a few games under Harry Hough’s managership, centre forward Leivers, who has been playing with the Conisbrough club Ellershaw. He scored Denaby’s first goal to put Denaby ahead after 6 min at Bourne, but they eventually lost 5-2
Another newcomer, who has made a big impression is right half Gant from Swinton.
“I like him very much. He has added a lot of strength to the halfback line,” said Mr Richards.”
