Serious Accident at the Colliery.

On Wednesday morning, a Collier named John Hackett was following a usual employment at the Denaby Main Colliery, when he met with a serious accident.

Some timber was being conveyed from one part of the pit to another, on a pulley, when the unfortunate man jumped upon it, overturning it.

When extricated it was found that he had been very seriously injured.

On the medical officer to the colliery (Dr Sykes) being called to the sufferer, he found that he had sustained a severe scalp wound, and most of his ribs had been broken, in addition to internal injuries.

He lies in a precarious condition.
