Serious Accident to Young Woman

June 1907

Mexborough & Swinton Times, June 22, 1907

A rather serious accident occurred on Monday evening to a young woman named Miss N Kerr, who lives in Ivanhoe Road.

She had hired a bicycle from a local firm and was negotiating the corner near the Castle gates, when, so it is stated, the brakes failed to act, and the machine ran into the wall with considerable force.

The result was that the young woman was badly injured about the arm and shoulder, and the machine was very considerably damaged.

Medical attendance was requisitioned and the injured young woman is making good progress towards recovery.

Conisborough is a somewhat dangerous place for cyclists, the roads are so hilly and the turns so abrupt, and it behoves everyone who attempts to write about the streets here to take care to keep the machine under complete control.
