Serious Assault at Denaby Main.
A startling occurrence took place at the Reresby Arms on Monday evening, when Juo. Humphries, jun., a married man, residing at No. 5. Melton street, sustained such serious injuries to his head and face by being struck with a pint pot at the hands of a woman named Mrs. Mannion, that his life is despaired of.
So far as can be ascertained it appears that there was some altercation between the woman and a man named O’Neil and Humphries, when Mrs. Manion (who is O’Neil’s paramour) in a fit of excitement and passion suddenly struck Humphries a violent blow on the head with a pint pot, which broke it, sad then again with the remaining part Inflicted so fierce a blow to the forehead and temple that at the time of writing very little hopes is given of the man’s recovery.
Mrs Mannion was, of course apprehended at the time, and was yesterday brought in custody to Denaby in order that her depositions might be taken, together with that of Humphries, if possible
