Serving Brother

For his services to the St John Ambulance movement in Conisbrough and Denaby, Staff Sergeant Graham Townsend, of 42, Northcliffe Road, Conisbrough has been invested an Honorary Serving Brother of the order of St John.

Mr Townsend joined the brigade as a boy in 1915, and has been actively associated with its work in the area ever since, except for service in the army.

Formerly an employee of Steetley Limestone Quarries Ltd., Mr Townsend is now retired, but he is still active in the brigade.
