She Had a Noted Guest

Mrs Agnes Davey, formerly of Conisbrough, who now owns the “Glencairn” Guest house in North Marine Road, Scarborough had as a guest a fortnight ago, M.P. for Hemsworth, Mr Allen Beaney. Mr Beaney was staying at the guesthouse, which overlooks Scarborough Cricket Ground, during the Whitsun recess, and he was making his second visit there, having spent some time in February at “Glencairn.” He is due to go again in July.

Staying at the same time was Mrs Davey’s father-in-law, Mr James Davey, of Tickhill Street Denaby, who was delighted to have such a distinguished companion.

Mrs Davey moved to Scarborough with her husband, a former businessman of Windy Hill Estate, Conisbrough, 17 months ago. Mr David died only months later and since Mrs Davey has run the guesthouse alone, and was complemented by Mr Beaney on the fight she has made to make a success under such difficult circumstances.

Over the telephone Mrs Davey asked as to give greetings the families many friends in Mexborough, Conisbrough and Denaby, some of whom have been to stay at the Guest House.
