Sheffield and Hallamshire Football Association.
Result of the Conisborough Case
On Friday night a sub committee meeting of the above association was held at the Maunche Hotel, the presidency of Mr. J. C. Clegg.
The principal business under consideration was with respect to the course to be pursued with regard to the Conisborough Club, who, on investigation, had been found guilty of playing ineligible players, and misleading the association on the occasions which they put in an appearance against the protests lodged against them.
Two representatives of the club now attended, and while unable to defend the action of the dub appealed for clemency for the players.
It was ultimately unanimously decided :
- The Conisborough Club be suspended until April 30, 1893
- That the secretary and committee of borough Club be prohibited from playing or taking any part in the government of football in the future.
- That Kelly, the captain, and F. Smith. a player, be suspended until April 30 1893 and the rest of the players until the end of the present season.
It was agreed to allow reasonable expenses to Melville club and North Staveley Club, to whose action was due to the bringing of the case before the association.
