January 1930

Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Tuesday 21 January 1930

Our Free Gift Scheme.

Payment to Injured Denaby Miner.

Since the “Sheffield Telegraph’’ Free Gift Scheme was reorganised, a short time ago, many people who had taken the paper and had not registered have since taken the precaution to do so. This course should be followed by others.

The scheme now provides for any form of accident, whether fatal or non – fatal. An example is provided by the gift of £5 made yesterday, to Mr. H. Woodward, 115, Annerley Street, Denaby Main.

While working at the Colliery on January 3rd, Mr. Woodward was caught by a fall of roof and a result his left leg was fractured.

A claim was made under the “Sheffield Telegraph” Free Gift Scheme, and it was found that the accident conform with the conditions of the scheme. As a result of the mishap, Mr Woodward has been incapacitated from work, and the money will, no doubt, coming very useful during his convalescence

A payment has also been made to Mr a Harrison of Alexandra buildings, Denaby Main, the newsagent who supplies Mr Woodward regularly with the “Sheffield daily Telegraph.”
