Shelters Refused
A total of 555 householders at Conisborough and Denaby have informed Conisborough Urban Council that they do not require steel air raid shelters.
The Council Is asking the regional A.R P. authorities in Leeds for 1,423 sectional steel shelters to accommodate a total of 6,400 people, for 1,500 surface domestic shelters for 6,750 people and 50 strengthened basements for 225 people.
In addition the West Riding County Council are to provide public shelters for about 1.700 people. The Council have appointed their Chief Financial Officer (Mr. R. w. Birch) to be the local fuel overseer in the event emergency.
