Shocking Cruelty by a Farmer.
James Braithwaite, farmer, Denaby, was fined £5 and costs for having cruelly killed a dog belonging to him on the 22nd Nov., 1878.
Defendant sent the dog to bring up cattle, and it did not comply with his orders. He thereupon tied the dog to a post, kicked it twenty or thirty times till it died.
The defendant said although he struck the dog he did intend to kill it.
The Chairman said the defendant was an inhuman brute, and an inhuman blackguard, and unfit to be a farmer.
