Signings for Next Season

Cooling for Denaby Utd.

Denaby United have done a grand stroke of business in securing the services of Wombwell inside forward Roy Cooling for the coming Midland League season.

Cooling, who is an excellent cricketer, too, and plays with Mitchells’ in the Yorkshire Council, was with Scarborough last season and previously with Barnsley and Mansfield.

Secretary / Manager Matt Taylor tells me the club have also signed W. Southerden, a half-back who has had two seasons with, Boston United; A. Bruce, ex-Doncaster Rovers’ inside forward: T. Heaton, wing-half, ex-Bentley Mill-gate F.C.; T. Fenton, wing-half, ex-Doncaster Y.M.C.A.•, and D. Short, outside left, ex-Bradford P.A. They are also expecting to sign a new fullback, following the departure of Eddie Lockwood, and a forward who played all matches for a Second Division club last season.

Training will commence on Tuesday, July 24th, and there will be practice matches on Saturday,  August 4th; Monday, August 6th, and (final practice) Saturday, August 11th. The Midland side open their season at Grimsby and the first home fixture will be with Doncaster Rovers’ Reserves on Monday, August 20th, with an evening kick-off.

Season cards are now available and can be had on application to Mr. Percy Harrison, Mr. Taylor, or to any member of the committee.

Last season’s players again available are Mayhall. Williams, Hibbett Lee. McGuinness, Law and Rowney.
