Single Woman Found Drowned

Inquest. – An inquest was held on Monday, at Conisborough, before Mr.E.Nicholson, on view of the body of Mary Holmes, a single woman, 53 years of age, who was found drowned in the river Don on Saturday night.

Deceased, it appeared, had left Conisborough on Saturday night to visit some friends at Mexborough; on the way, between Conisborough and the Mexborough Ferry boat inn, she had to cross the water over a bridge, and it is supposed, that night being dark, she missed her way and fell into the water and was drowned.

Deceased was to have been married in a fortnight.

Verdict, “found drowned.”
