Sinking Halted by Water
The sinking of the thick seam of coal under the magnesian limestone, at Conisborough, near to Mexborough, has again been interfered with owing to the influx of a large quantity of water.
The coal has been purchased between Conisborough and Doncaster, so that the colliery would be one of the largest and most important in the West Riding, having the advantage of direct communication by rail with London and the south, and with the Humber by both rail and water.
The stoppage, however, will, it is expected, be only temporary.
