Sixtysix Panes Broken By Hooligans at Conisbrough
A “Final Warning,’ issued by the Vicar of Conisbrough the Rev. G. F. Braithwaite, and churchwardens, is the latest effort to stop hooliganism in Conisbrough.
For 66 panes of glass have been broken in Church House—a building preserved because of its ancient architectural interest,
The notice posted on the house says: “Final Warning. — Anyone doing damage or entering these premises will be prosecuted. This means you.”
The house at 18, Church Street was formerly the home of the verger and caretaker to the church, but was some months ago declared unfit for human habitation. It was scheduled for preservation under the Ancient Monuments Act.
Mr, Braithwaite organised a fund some time ago for the restoration of the building and church efforts are regularly held to raise money for this end.
