Smart Capture at Conisboro’
Wm. Parker, a miner of Conisboro’, was summoned for a breach of the Poaching Prevention Act at Conisboro’ on the 2nd July.
P.C. Thompson stated that on Wednesday morning, the 2nd inst., at 4.15, he was on duty near Mr. Chambers’ residence in Dale Road, Conisboro’, when he saw the defendant and others at the corner of Dale Road.
On seeing him they ran away.
He followed them, and noticed that their pockets were bulky.
He got within a few yards of Parker, who stopped running, and he asked him what he wanted.
He (witness) stated that he wanted to search him, and he did so, finding two dead rabbits, which were quite warm.
He took possession of them, and told him he would be reported.
Defendant, who did not appear, was fined 20s. and costs.
