Private Frank Gee
Mr and Mrs William Gee of Green Lane have been notified of the death of private Frank Gee (KOYLI) aged 24. The sergeant of his company, says “Private Frank Gee was killed in action August 28 and afterwards was interred in a numbered grave.”
The sergeant sent the sympathy of himself and comrades to Mr and Mrs Gee and speaks highly of their son’s good qualities.
Private A Lewin, a comrade says: “he was a good and quiet chum. He did not suffer any pain, death being sharp and sudden and I hope you will not take the bad news too much to heart.”
Private Gee enlisted in October 1915 and went to France on 18th of February 1916. Prior to enlistment he worked at Dinnington pit and was a drummer in the Dinnington Salvation Army band. Two brothers are serving in France.
