Killed In Action

Mrs. Grimes, of 37, Chambers’ Avenue, Conanby, has received news that her son John has been killed in action while serving with the 1st Army in North Africa.

He joined the Army about 12 months ago, and he has been in North Africa for the past six months.

He was well known locally for his association with the Conisbrough Welfare Football Club, and was a regular attender at the Parish Church up to leaving the district about seven years ago to take up work with the London County Council.

Prior to leaving Conisbrough he had been employed at Cadeby Colliery since leaving school. He leaves a widow and a daughter aged 5.
