Award for Middle East Services
Bombardier (Acting Sergeant) Frederick Guest, R.A , a Denabyman, figures among the honours announced last week-end to men who distinguished themselves in the recent successes of the Imperial Forces in the Middle East. He gets the Military Medal.
Acting Sergeant Guest is 31, a married man with five children. Until a “Times” reporter called on Mrs. Guest at 59, Barn-burgh Street, Denaby Main, she did not know of the honour bestowed on her husband. His mother who lives at 25, Barnburgh Street, had also not heard of it.
Acting Sergeant Guest is the second son of Mrs. and the late Mr. Frederick Guest, Mr. Guest dying only a fortnight ago. He has been with a Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment in the Middle East for tw0 years. As a member of the Territorials at Denaby, he was called up at the outbreak of war. About a year ago he was wounded in the cheek and left arm, and spent some time in hospital. Before the war he worked as a collier at Denaby Main Colliery.
