Out East
Somewhere in the Middle East is Gunner Joseph Lawrence (23), son of Mr and Mrs Lawrence, 13, Chambers Avenue, Conanby, who on February 17 celebrates his birthday and elsewhere in these columns his family send him their greetings and wishes.
Gunner Lawrance was a member of the Territorials. He figured in the evacuation of Dunkirk.
This After a period in England he later moved to the Middle East, where he has been for the last ten months. In a letter to his parents he describes the retreat of the Germans and during one period Gunner Lawrance picked up a German kit, and on searching it discovered a camera, with which he had his first photograph taken, this being the one published here.
Before the war he was employed at Cadeby Main Colliery.
