Serving In India
Cpl. Joseph Madin R.A.S.C., is one of the men now serving in the Indian theatre. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Willis, of Tickhill Street, Denaby, but is married and his wife lives at 3, Cross Bank, Balby.
He joined up in November 1939 and served in France until Dunkirk, being mentioned in dispatchers for gallantry. He wears the Oak Leaf and also has the 1939/1943 star. He has been awarded a certificate of merit for good service and gallantry.
Before joining up he worked for the L.N.E.R. at Balby as a clerk and before that attended Balby Street School, Denaby.
He has a brother in the Fleet Air Arm, and another brother who is a professional footballer, playing for Tottenham Hotspur. He has two sons.
