Gunner Charles Nock 11, Parkgate Avenue, Conanby, always had a desire to travel, and at one time contemplated joining the Foreign Legion. His opportunity came in February. 1940, when he volunteered for service in the Royal Artillery.
His wish to travel was soon gratified, for be spent his first Christmas in the Army on board ship. His people had so news of him for twelve months till It transpired that be had visited various war zones the Middle Last. He is now settled down at Malta sad appears to be enjoying life there.
Before joining the Forces he was employed as a male nurse at a hospital In Romford, when he went after leaving Denaby Main at 17 years of age, where he had worked since leaving school.
He has a wife who is doing her share in the war effort in a factory, and a son aged three years.
