Denaby Man Was in Overdue Plane
About three weeks ago we reported that Mrs. Pears, of 26, Annerley Street, Denaby, had received a card from her son, Gnr. J. T. Pears, of the R.A., who had been a prisoner of the Japanese, saying that he hoped to be with them ~for Christmas.
This week Mrs. Pears has received a telegram from the Under Secretary of State for War, stating:
“ Deeply regret to inform you that reports have been received that Gnr, J. T. Pears, RA,, previously prisoner of war in Japanese hands, is missing from overdue aircraft engaged in recovery operations in Far East. I regret, therefore, to state that he must now be considered to be missing. Any further information which may be received will be forwarded to you immediately.”
