Sgt George L Portray (20), only son of Mr Claude Portray of May-Lyne, Minneymoor Road, Conisbrough, has been promoted to Second lieutenant.
Second lieutenant Portray attended the Conisbrough Modern School and Mexborough Technical School.
He was on the surveying staff at Cadeby Main before the war.
He was called up at the outbreak of war and is serving in the Royal Artillery
