Death of a Cricketer
We record with regret the death of Jack Stott, bronzer. He was very well known in the district, and so me a few years ago was keenly associated with the Denaby and Cadeby cricket club. He was an exceptionally good batsmen.
Deceased joined his Majesty’s forces some months ago, I was drafted to France with the Doncaster Royal Engineers. He had only been there a fortnight when the sad news came of his death.
It appears he was killed by the same shell that killed bombardier George Appleyard of Conisborough
