Pte. A. Thistleton

Mrs Thistleton, of 44, Silverwood Road, wife of Pte. Austin Thistleton, has received a notification that her husband has been killed. He has been missing since July 1st.

Previous to enlistment he was engaged as a pawnbroker’s assistant by Messrs. Turner, pawnbrokers, Rotherham, and had a large circle of friends in the town. Where he was well known and highly respected.

His brother-in-law, Seaman Walter Elliott Lewis, was First Class Signal Boy on H. M. S. “Clan McNaughton” which was torpedoed and sunk on February 3, 1915.

Much sympathy is felt towards a young widow, who has suffered the double loss of her husband and brother.
