Keen For Action
Gunner Harry Timmings, of 73, Barnburgh Street, Denaby, is restless at being kept on duties somewhere in England, and he has asked to be transferred to a first-line infantry regiment. In a letter to his wife he spoke of his keenness to go overseas, and of his hope that he would get a transfer to his old pals in the K.O.Y.L.I.
Gunner Timmings’s father and three older brothers fought in the last war, so there is a family tradition to keep up. Harry was for four years a private In the Denaby Territorial Company, but he left in May last year. When war broke out he immediately volunteered in the hope that he would rejoin his Company. He was turned into an artilleryman, however, and is enjoying the life.
His brother Sam is also serving as a sergeant.
