Souvenirs from Abroad
Conisbrough Airman’s Gifts

Although many lads who do their National Service abroad bring back a number of souvenirs with them, few of them are as painstaking as a 19 year old airman from Conisbrough, L.A.C. Walter Colin Horton.

Walter, who is at present serving in Cyprus, has sent his mother, Mrs WH Horton, a large variety of present from Cyprus and from his former postings in Jordan.

The most interesting present Mrs Horton has received at her home, School House, Station Road, is a set of cushion covers from Jordan, richly embroidered, and depicting desert scenes.

Walter has also sent a musical alarm clock, several tablecloths, a handbag and a beautiful set of chair covers.

Walter, who is to be demobilised next March, has already sent home one Jordan souvenir, which he intends to wear himself, but only on odd occasions – a full Arab headdress.
